North Kingstown Firefighters Respond to Two Saunderstown Fires
Tuesday March 24, 2009 was a busy day for North Kingstown's bravest, battling two major fires in the same day, both in the Saunderstown section of town. The first fire at 44 Riptide Drive came in at 03:17hrs. Upon arrival Engine 2 reported heavy fire showing and a vehicle blocking access to the building. Master stream operations were initiated, successfully protecting the house next door from becoming involved.
The second fire at 92 Weavers Road came in at 1343hrs. E1 arrived first and reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the house. Companies went to work stretching lines and opening holes in the roof and interior ceilings of the home to gain access to the fire. The fire was brought under control and the class A foam system on the new Engine 1 was used for overhaul.
Mutual aid from surrounding communities was brought in to assist with both incidents, and no injuries were reported. Photos and audio clips can be found within the multimedia section of this site.
