WBZ-TV Reports on Firefighter Staffing Shortages
In an article titled, "I-Team: Local Fire Depts. Not Up To Fed Standards
Dangerous Budget Cuts Affect Firefighter Manpower, Response Time" WBZ-TV reports on how local fire departments are failing to meet federal standards on manpower and response times. See the links below:

- Full Story
- I-Team Fire Department Response Statistics*

* If North Kingstown were included on this list, we do NOT meet either the federal manpower or response time standards. We currently have two firefighters on most of our companies with the exception of engine 6, which has three. The federal standard calls for four fighters. The response times are currently being addressed by adding the Slocum station which will help significantly. The NKFD responded to 5052 calls for service in 2006 and 5359 calls for service in 2007.
